Birgitte is the true picture of health. This athletic girl is now taking her third year in high school where her major is sports. Growing up she was always involved in sports and her favorite sport to play was soccer. In recent years she has played regularly on the junior team and she has also competed in many local championships.
Birgitte for the most part focused on beach volley ball where she now plays with her miracle arm.
Nasty fall
In February 2003, Birgitte had winter holidays which were spent with a group of friends at a ski resort. They were slaloming and snowboarding. The group challenged each other to do tricks. Birgitte flew high on her snowboard. «The jump ended up being a little bit too far so I fell on solid ground and I had to reach out with my hands while falling, she says. It hurt and I noticed that something had happened to my right arm». Red Cross came and helped her at the site and recommended that she go to see a doctor.
Later that day she took the bus to the city of Sandnes where her mother was waiting for her. They immediately drove to the university hospital in the city of Stavanger for an examination. There she had X-rays done which showed a fracture in her arm.
The arm was put in a cast and bandaged so it would heal properly. She was told by the doctor that these accidents were common in snowboarding. He wanted Birgitte to come back for a routine check-up to see that the cast was fitting properly on her arm.
Malfunctioning arm
The very next day, being a Monday she was at school. She was unable to take notes in class. She was also unable to be active in her leisure activities. She avoided going to her soccer practices. This year she played tennis, but her practices had to be cancelled. She couldn't go on a planned ski trip with a group of friends either.
The following weekend Svein-Magne Pedersen was having healing meetings in the city of Sandnes. Birgitte came with some friends to the Saturday night meeting.
«It was quite a long line-up, but it was still pretty cool to be there,» she says.
The church had a cafè downstairs in the basement and Birgitte sat there with her friends as she was waiting for her turn to come up. Birgitte was one of the last ones in the line-up and didn't receive prayer until six o'clock in the morning. When Svein-Magne had prayed, he asked her if she could feel anything.
«Yes I feel a tickling sensation in my arm» Birgitte said.
«Then it's the bones healing,» said Svein-Magne.
The fracture is gone
The next day which was a Monday, she was going for a check-up at the hospital. The doctor wanted to make sure that the bones were healing straight. They took X-ray pictures. It was a different doctor that did the examination that day.
Birgitte was surprised when the doctor told her that he couldn't see any fracture on the X-ray picture. He took off the bandage and removed the cast.
Birgitte didn't tell the doctor that she had received prayer. She was just happy that her arm was restored.
The following week she was on a ski trip with her class at school and now she was in full motion as usual. Birgitte continued doing her regular sporting activities the week after. This included tennis and soccer. No pain was to be felt since her arm was still restored to the fullest and has been that way ever since.
«I am thoroughly happy that my arm was healed at the meeting well over two years ago, says Birgitte. «I spend my time practising and doing competitions in beach volleyball which is going towards U23
Norway championships and senior Norway championships in August. God is good!»
